Data Analytics

Data analytics, broadly speaking, is the process of examining all the different sources of corporate data, sifting through and analysing this data, finding trends, adding meaning to and assisting management to draw conclusions based on this data.

Data analytics is not only used for day-to-day management decision making. It also plays a critical role in various other commercial processes: During re-organisations of company/group structure or activities, disposals, acquisitions of new subsidiaries or investments, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), data analytics can make a very valuable contribution to the outcome: specifically in preparation/during due diligence phases or even implementation phases, where e.g. asset registers has to be assessed for e.g. completeness and or asset values, or merge different sources of data. Conversely, during disposals, it becomes necessary to split out databases.

The same broad principle applies when migrating from a legacy system to a newer IT system, where data requirements or structures differ. This requires that data has to be transformed, scrubbed, or even amended prior to implementation, in order to be suitable for use by the new system.
